Thursday, November 27, 2008 - HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2008 regular season is now over and we are in the middle of NCAA games. These games are extremely important - the winner advances to the next round of the NCAA's . CONGRATULATIONS to all of you who were selected to work any of the NCAA games this year. You make us proud! keep in mind: Some things to keep in mind this year: ISOAB will be assessing a 4% assigning fee for all spring games, pre-season and regular season as well as post-season games for the following conferences: Northeast Conference - MAAC - Patriot League - A-Sun - FSC - Landmark - Conference Carolinas all independent schools At the end of the 2008 season, ISOAB will be sending "invoices" indicating your total game fee paid and what your 4% fee will be. This has nothing to do with games assigned for Big East, America East, Ivy League While on the soccer field, keep in mind - you are representing ISOAB, NISOA and YOURSELF . Remember the NISOA Code of Ethics and Be Professional . . . at all times

Only questions regarding fees and mileage ($$) should be addressed with Roger Taylor. Any deviation from this policy the guilty party will be assessed a fine of $25.00, effective immediately! Starting with 2005 assignments for the above conferences, there will be a 4% assigning fee. If previous year is not paid, do not expect 2008 assignments for these conferences. PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE -take your assignments seriously. Treat officiating college games as you would your regular job. There is absolutely no excuse for a no-show. You each get 2 reminders/notices of games. You all have your Final Game Notice when you log into the ISOAB website. And you all receive a 72-hour Notice - this is sent to you for many reasons - it's a reminder of your game, time, date, location and your crew. If there are only 2 names on that reminder, then make it your business to find out who else is on that game! Please see the ISOAB Policies & Procedures below. ISOAB has worked hard to increase your game fees. By having "no shows" the schools and conferences feel these increases are not justified, and rightly so. If Policies # 1 and # 2 are not followed, believe me - you will start losing game assignments and there WILL be a monetary fine of 1 game fee for each crew member. Everyone will be held responsible. Just as on the field it is a 3 person involvement, so it is with these "pre-game" instructions. GAMES ASSIGNED BY ISOAB IS A PRIVILEGE; NOT A RIGHT !!! Games WILL be removed from anyone's schedule who does not follow these simple guidelines! PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR ACCEPTING GAMES & MILEAGE ENTRY IT is imperative that you check this website frequently, even daily, especially during the season. Check your email for "GAPS". When you correspond with ISOAB regarding a game, be sure to indicate the GAME ID # and your full name - not just your email address. * * * * * * * * * $$$$ NOTE $$$$ - When you receive your "72-Hour Notice" be sure to check your game fee and mileage, if you feel there is any discrepancy, CORRECT IT AT THAT TIME. The way to correct this is send either myself or Valerie an email with GAME ID #, R/T mileage and your position on that game AND YOUR NAME. If this is not done (with all the requested info), it will not be my responsibility to correct your mileage and fees. Sorry, but this is a reality. Let's be professional from the very beginning and it will extend to the field POLICIES - ISOAB will be enforcing the following policies: 1. REFEREES - you MUST call your crew 72 hours prior to game date. 2. AR's - you MUST call the REFEREE and the other AR 48 hours prior to game date. BY checking your Final Game Notice you will find your entire crew's name, address and telephone numbers (including cell phone where appropriate) and e-mails - there is no excuse for saying you didn't know who you were working with. Also, the 72-hour Notice (which is e-mailed to you) includes this same information. Therefore, why are we still having only 2 officials show up for a 3-man system! This presents an embarrassing and extremely unprofessional scenario! NOTE: leaving an email or voice mail DOES NOT mean that you have met your responsibility. You must have a confirmation from a "person" that the message was received. Failure to do so will result in a monetary fine and possibly loss of games. 3. All officials MUST be at the school 45-60 minutes prior to KO; all officials MUST be on the FIELD OF PLAY 30 minutes prior to KO - NO EXCEPTIONS !! Again, you know this - why is it not happening? This was again a major complaint by coaches during the nSCAA Convention last week. ARRIVING late at the game site or not showing up to the game at all will not be accepted. If this occurs, each incident will be reviewed individually. Your assignments WILL BE removed from your schedules AND there will be a monetary fine. If you are en-route to a game and you feel you will not meet the above obligations, use your head (and phone) call your fellow officials and/or school. Let them know of your situation - i.e. traffic, etc. IF YOU FEEL THIS IS A PROBLEM - THEN PLEASE DO EVERYONE A FAVOR THAT MEANS YOUR FELLOW OFFICIALS, TEAMS/PLAYERS AND YOURSELF - DO NOT ACCEPT THAT GAME 4. For game fee payment: DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOLS - CALL ISOAB!!! IF IT COMES TO THE ATTENTION OF ISOAB THAT YOU HAVE CALLED A SCHOOL REGARDING PAYMENT, ISOAB WILL ASSESS A FINE! AND IF THIS FINE IS NOT PAID YOU WILL LOSE GAMES. 5. Some coaches have brought to our attention that referees are requesting of them to do their games. Please do not put coaches in this uncomfortable position - this is unethical. If this occurs each incident will be reviewed individually; and in all probability your assignments will be in jeopardy. 6. NOTE: FOR ANY "TURN-BACK" GAME SEVEN (7) DAYS OR LESS PRIOR TO SCHEDULED/CONTRACTED MATCH, THE OFFICIAL WILL INCUR A FEE OF $25.00. WE WILL TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THOSE WITH EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES. 7. And, it goes without saying, ALL NISOA policies will be enforced by ISOAB. 8. If you are assigned a game by ISOAB, you cannot switch with another official without approval from us. If a switch is made, you will be fined $50.00 with a possibility of losing future games. Only ISOAB can make a change/switch. IF you see a game posted with a start time of 9:00 AM - this is an indication that the KO time is To Be Determined. ASSIGNMENTS - If there is a change to a game, there will be a magenta arrow next to it; you must check the empty box indicating that you have accepted the game with the new change(s). You will not be requested to enter the mileage again if there is a change. CHECK your email and this website frequently, if there are games that are turned back for one reason or another an email will be sent entitled "GAPS" ACCEPT / DECLINE GAMES - Some of you are still having a problem with this. PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE read the instructions carefully. In conjunction with our webmaster and feed back from you, we have made some changes during the 2003 season to our website. The SCHEDULE/CONTRACT section now has 3 levels. If you have "UNACCEPTED" games - those games will appear immediately. If you have no "UNACCEPTED" games you will see "NO UNACCEPTED GAMES" immediately. This is very straight forward. Remember, there is a listing of all "PRIOR" (or completed) games. This will be separate from "FUTURE" games to avoid any confusion. IF you are ACCEPTING a game you must "CLICK" to put a check mark at each game you are ACCEPT-ing (there's a little box). Any game left unchecked (no mark in the little box) will be considered DECLINED. At the bottom of the page you will then CLICK the SUBMIT button. You will be asked for ROUND TRIP mileage - the ACCEPTANCE sequence will not be complete unless this amount is filled in and it will be considered those games are DECLINED. NO NEED to "click" SUBMIT each time you "view" your assignments - only if there are changes (magenta arrow or unchecked boxes) do you need to click the SUBMIT button. IF you need to TURN BACK an already ACCEPTED game, go to the ACCEPTED GAME page and "unclick" that game; then go to the bottom of the page and click on the SUBMIT button. IF you see a REV "99" on your ACCEPTED GAMES LIST or your FINAL GAME NOTICE - this is an indication that your game as been "postponed and no new date has been set" MILEAGE - after you select your ACCEPTED games (by putting a check mark in the appropriate box) and click SUBMIT at the bottom of that page you will be linked to the MILEAGE PAGE. All your ACCEPTED games MUST have R/T mileage entered or ISOAB will receive an email with GAMES ACCEPTED BUT no name - therefore we will have no idea who is accepting games. If you have done the entire procedure correctly you should receive 2 notices indicating that those games have been accepted. MILEAGE - almost all mileage has now been entered. The best place to determine if your mileage is correct is on the Final Game Notice page. If there is a discrepancy, let us know. No longer will ISOAB be responsible for mileage that is incorrect. This is now YOUR responsibility to be sure the amount is correct. IF AFTER A GAME IS PLAYED AND YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR CHECK WITH MILEAGE THAT YOU FEEL IS INCORRECT DO NOT CALL ISOAB OR THE SCHOOL ABOUT THIS! A CHANGE WILL NOT BE MADE - the Final Game Notice indicates all the amounts that the school will pay you check this BEFORE the game is played WE need all officials who are registered with ISOAB to double check their email addresses on our website on the PERSONAL INFO section - This often times is entered INCORRECTLY (at the time of registration). You will not get your game fee checks, information on new games available "GAPS" and other important emails that are sent from this office if your email is incorrect. There are still some that are wrong. If it's yours you will be missing out on the "GAPS" emails and the opportunity to possibly pick up more games! And your checks may not reach you in a timely manner. REFEREES - EXTREMELY IMPORTANT - After each game, please be sure to fill out and submit the GAME REPORT that is in the left hand column after you log in. PERSONAL DATA INFO CHANGES - Any changes to your address, phone number or email addresses can be made on the website. If you wish to change your password, an email to Valerie with that change will be all that you need to do. NAME CHANGE: send an email to Valerie and she will direct you on how to do this. IF you have any questions, please feel free to let us know and we will do our best to answer you. 2008 FEE STRUCTURE: note NEC, MAAC and Patriot now pay tolls. When entering your r/t mileage also include your r/t tolls where indicated NEC Ref - $240 / AR - $145 MAAC Ref - $230 / AR - $135 Patriot Ref - $240 / AR - $140 America East Ref - $230 / AR - $140 Big East Ref - $230 / AR - $140 Ivy League Ref - $230 / AR - $140 FSC Ref - $155 / AR - $115; mileage $35 C-USA Ref - $250 / AR - $160(ref automatically gets $30/per diem; cap for ref travel $300 (either air or driving). AR’s total of 300 miles max. No mileage for 4th, straight $75, A-Sun Ref - $195 / AR - $135 - new for 2008, plus increase in mileage cap and mileage rate!!!! CC Ref - $160 / AR - $120 mileage included in game fee
FOR THE GOOD OF SOCCER - REMEMBER - you are only as good as your last game! A survey was conducted among coaches for the year 2007 regarding the ISOAB website and services provided based on 6 attributes. On a rating scale from 0 - 10 ( 0 = "get rid of them"; 10 = "excellent" the average rating achieved was 9.6. Our service rating has increased from 2001 at 8.6 to 9.6 for 2006. You, the officials, played a very important role in this rating - thank you for your support. THANK YOU and remember - maintaining fitness is extremely important for officials visit your doctor regularly Enjoy yourselves on the field and most importantly, stay healthy - Alex Ivahnenko * * * GOD * BLESS * AMERICA * *
